In the chemical selection process, we prioritized chemicals with long-term rodent liver carcinogenicity annotation for inclusion in this experiment. Long-term carcinogenicity annotations were derived from the Carcinogenic Potency Database (CPDB) (Fitzpatrick 2008). Additional chemicals without carcinogenicity annotation were included on the basis of interest to the Superfund Research Program (environmental toxicants), presence in controversial commercial products (included for predictive purposes), and evidence of binding to the aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR), as the AhR is an important mediator of xenobiotics, including carcinogens. In total, 330 unique chemicals were used in the analysis, including 128 carcinogens, 168 noncarcinogens, 100 genotoxicants, and 161 nongenotoxicants.
